Keisuke Sano's "Seimei no Yoake" is on display in Yui no Mori Arakawa.
Explanation of the work
The concept is the true form of creatures living in the harsh natural world. Many artists have created works expressing the beauty of living things. There is an inseparable connection between art, living things, and the modeling of beauty. However, behind that beauty, there is a harsh environment which these creatures live in, and to which they are connected.
However, alongside the sparkle of life, these creatures are destined to live in a brutal world where death is always right around the corner. The pure white feathers we see are truly durable armor to protect them, providing function for live itself. Imagining the sparkle of life as bright stars shining the in the night sky, I expressed this concept as a crane calmly in flight, using lacquer flecked with iron rust to create texture similar to a helmet and armor. In addition, I used lacquer to show traces of the crane within the nest after it has gone inside the box, expressing the crane's destiny of nest and open sky.
