Explanation of the work
The motif is sea bass. I first encountered sea bass through my hobby, fishing. The first time I caught one, I remember how glossy the silver skin was, how powerful the shape of it looked, and how delighted I was to reel it in. It was such an intense and moving experience that it changed the course of my life. Ever since then, I've continued to seek out beautiful fish, and before long sea bass became a familiar fish for me. As I continued to seek out sea bass, I got the desire to create one for myself. I created this work with the conviction that I could express the beauty of a sea bass with the black granite used in materials research.
