This statue was created based on the “Yamabuki no Sato Legend” of Bushō (Japanese military commander) Ōta Dōkan who was from Nippori. Whilst practicing falconry Ōta Dōkan was caught in the rain and in order to borrow a “mino” (raincoat) he stopped by a nōka (farm house). Through ancient Waka (Japanese poetry), it has been said that the daughter of the farm house handed him a Yamabuki branch instead, as they had no “mino”.
