The temple is commonly called the Tsukimiji Temple, popular amongst “furyūjin” (meaning “people of refined taste”), and there are monumental stone tablets inscribed with Haiku by Kobayashi Issa and Taneda Santouka. There are also tombs of the Confucian scholar Ichikawa Kansai, calligrapher Ichikawa Beian, as well as Nagai Naoyuki who was active from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period.
