This is a bronze statue of the Busho (Japanese military commander) Ōta Dōkan (a Busho of the Sengoku period, appraised for his skill in both the scholarly field and martial arts) from the Muromachi era hunting in falconry gear following the “Yamabuki no Sato”.
In Nippori, there historical landmarks and legends, including those related to Mt. Dōkan, which is believed that there was a fortress of Dōkan. The Dōkan Oka Hi of Hongyōji Temple and the Nippori Funagimatsu no Hi of Seifunji Temple are cultural assets of the ward.
