Nichikeiji Temple
Nichikei-ji Temple is said to have been founded by a nun named Nichike in Yanaka between 1532 and 1555. Later, in 1704, a nun named Nisso took over the name Yanaka Nikkeiji and built this temple. It is said that the Kishimojin statue at this temple was given to the mother of the Japanese minister who served the third shogun, Tokugawa Iemitsu, by the fifth shogun, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi. We also have the oldest tablet in Arakawa Ward with an inscription dated April 1289 from the Kamakura period.
