Hiroko Amano's "Futari" is on display in Arakawa Park.
Explanation of the work
I created this work by imagining my little brother and I each walking our own path. When we're splitting off from the same location, neither has the perfect shape yet. From that point on, we find clarity and acquire knowledge.
People are sometimes lovers, sometimes friends, and sometimes strangers, but a little brother is always a little brother. Your family relationships never change. My brother and I were born from the same mother and grew up in the same place. But now, we walk different paths. Two people in the same field live as individuals. Moreso than the sorrow of drifting apart, I feel a sense of strength in each facing the world in their own way.
This work is imbued with the anticipation of progress and the strength of becoming your own individual.
