Ikuo Inada's "Ame o Matsu" is on display at Arakawa Park.
Explanation of the work
Within the rapid flow of time in our daily lives, I wish I had the time to stop and face myself from time to time. I end up paying attention only to those around me and lose sight of things that were important to me. I'm still inexperienced and constantly lost, but I want to create something that only the current me can. It's about patiently waiting until something important to you takes shape. By gripping a rock in my hand, I focus on the haste and uncertainty within me and still give my best effort to what lies before my eyes. I tried to express that feeling in the form of a person.
Like a tree out in nature that depends on the rain to grow, I created this work to express the desire of growth, even if it is a slow process, and named it "Ame o Matsu" (waiting for the rain).
