"Pietà" means "pity" and "mercy" and refers to the Virgin Mary cradling the Christ, who was removed from the cross.

The work depicts the deep sadness of losing a beloved being and the overflowing mercy that never ends. The posture of mourning and reflection on shared memories is expressed in the creation of this work, despite the fact that standing up may not be possible. The model is the author's elderly dog.

Even those who are unfamiliar with the contents of the Bible can gaze into the eyes hidden by blue eyebrows and imagine the story freely. It is the author's hope that this work may softly comfort the heart that is sinking into sadness.
